Preamble

The communication trace files, normally known as "traces" or "logfiles", contain the original data from the card reader which Autopoll records and registers during the polling. There are two types of communication trace files. Files of serial connected card readers and files of FTP connected card readers. In case of problems during or after the polling of a card reader, these files can be used for the analyse. It is recommended, if needed, to open these communication trace files with the editor or notepad to see the raw and unformatted data of the card reader.

communication trace files - serial connected card readers

  • most common card readers: TA2331R1-3, TA2340, Heconomy, Männl
  • File storage location: on the computer which polled under ...\AutopollVx\logfiles
  • File names: With every polling of a serial connected card reader the same polled data will be stored in five different ways in five different files. That means that every polling consists of five communication trace files, which have the same file extension. The best analysable communication trace file is the "apcomtrace.xyz".
    • apbufferdata.xyz
    • apbufferlog.xyz
    • apcomlog.xyz
    • apcomtrace.xyz
    • apreclog.xyz
  • File number: By default the parameter is set to 30 files, that means only the communication trace files of the last 30 pollings made by the computer which executes the polling will be stored on this computer. The actual communication trace files replace the oldest files and the file extensions shift too. The actual communication trace file have the file extension ".001", the oldest ".030". The number of communication trace files can be increased if needed, but the hard disc space on the polling computer has to be considered.
  • These communication trace files, which have been stored on the computer which executes the Autopoll backup will be stored in the Autopoll backup file (ZIP). backup singleplace

communication trace files - FTP connected card readers

  • most common card readers: Hecstar, Inosmart, Inolight
  • File storage location: on the computer which polled under ...\AutopollVx\IOMXML\TA x\imported and ...\AutopollVx\IOMXML\TA x\sended, depending on whether the data is transmitted to or received from the card reader. (x = number of the card reader in Autopoll)
  • File names: Due to the fact that these communication trace files are not being overwritten or replaced, these files have, depending on the above mentioned card readers, different names, file extensions, contents and meanings. For more details please contact the Autopoll hotline.
  • File number: Limit is the maximum of files in a Windows folder (with the tool "ApZipMonthly.exe" the files in the folder IOMXML can be compressed per month).
  • These communication trace files will NOT be stored in the Autopoll backup file (ZIP).
