EN installation network
Preamble
The following documentation is for Autopoll installations versions V3-V3.5-V4 on computer with Windows 7 or lower.
- An Autopoll network version is necessary if the Autopoll database and the Autopoll program shall run on separate computers or if Autopoll shall be installed in a terminalserver infrastructure or Autopoll shall be executed via remote desktop connections.
- The licensed number of clients in Autopoll defines the number of users working at the same time (parallel) in Autopoll, not on how many client computers Autopoll can be installed.
Requirements
- Before ordering an Autopoll network version it should be clarified and discussed with the customer how the Autopoll shall be installed (database location, connectivities server-clients), how many users shall work in Autopoll at the same time and if the card readers are available from server and clients.
- The initial Autopoll installation has to be executed as full-administrator.
- If an Interbase database server and/or a 64-bit Firebird database server is already running on the computer on which Autopoll shall be installed, an Autopoll installation is in the moment NOT possible. If another 32-bit Firebird database server is already running on the computer on which Autopoll shall be installed (maybe for another software) please contact the Autopoll hotline for support whether and how Autopoll can be installed even though on this computer with another firebird database server.
- At least the ports 3050 and 3051 for the communication between Autopoll and the Firebird database server have to be cleared. (Firewalls etc.) security notes

Installation server
- The Autopoll license will be delivered/mailed as TXT-file. Download the file, copy the file to the computer on which Autopoll shall be installed and rename the file-ending from "txt" to "reg". The file symbol shall change by doing this. Afterwards a double click on the license-file will import the license.
- Normally the Autopoll setup will be delivered as download-link. Download the setup, coyp the setup to the computer on which Autopoll shall be installed and start the setup.
Do not install under C:\Programme ! if necessary change the Autopoll instalation path.
* during this action the Firebird database server will be installed completely and the Autopoll database
- After the installation on the server a Windows clearance on the Autopoll database (with Autopoll V4 "APV4.GDB") has to be configured for the connectivity of the Autopoll clients and the Autopoll backup in the network).
Installation client

* during this action the Autopoll program and only the Firebird client, NOT a COMPLETE Firebird database server, will be installed.(gds32.dll in C:\Windows\Systgem32)
- After the installation and before starting Autopoll on the client computer the database path and the client number in the configuration file "APVx.INI" have to be configured.
In an Autopoll network version it is absolutely important that every Autopoll client installation gets its own client number in the "APVx.INI"-file. The reason for that is that the Autopoll function "scheduled actionplans" and the polling of card readers in an Autopoll network are executed on the base of client numbers.
After the installation
- The customer is responsible for the connection to the card readers. The customer should discuss and prepare the connection to the card readers with the card reader service before the Autopoll installation.

- The backup in an Autopoll network version has to be configured and executed one time. Details under backup network
